A number of men of the 6th NHV, using their downtime in the camps, have developed an old time folk show reminiscent of the Civil War era. Playing a variety of music popular with the troops during the war as well as antebellum favorites. The band plays shows consisting of popular hits written by men such as Stephen Foster, and Henry C. Work. The set also includes many famous Irish and Southern folk songs. They typically play every weekend during events on Friday and Saturday evenings. They are also available for booking on other nights of the year. They've played shows at establishments such as O'Rorkes Tavern in Gettysburg, PA and the Colonial Tavern in Fredericksburg, VA, "Home to the Irish Brigade." Even if you're not familiar with the music, you'll still enjoy the comedic entertainment of "The Contraband".
